What is an App Password?
An App Password is a unique, one-time password generated by your AT Protocol identity provider (such as Bluesky, a self-hosted PDS, or other compatible services) specifically for third-party applications like this one. It allows you to grant access to an application without sharing your main account password.
Using App Passwords enhances your security by:
- Allowing you to revoke access for a single application without changing your main password.
- Limiting the permissions an application might have (though for this app, it grants full session access).
How to Generate an App Password:
- Open your AT Protocol client or identity providers settings (e.g., bsky.app for Bluesky, or your self-hosted PDS admin panel).
- Navigate to Settings > App Passwords (or Privacy & Security > App Passwords).
- Click on Add App Password.
- Give it a descriptive name (e.g., "DecodingUs App").
- Copy the generated password string. This is the only time you will see it.
This generated password is what youll use in the Login form. Treat it like a regular password.
